Avital is an Associate at aMoon. She uses her scientific background to research areas and companies on the front-line of healthcare and she supports our portfolio companies. Avital was part of aMoon’s investments in Omada Health, Satellite Bio, AltruBio, BioSplice Therapeutics, and Sera Prognostics.
As a scientist at heart, Avital is motivated by discovery, the advancement of science, and the translation of scientific progress to impact human health.
Previously Avital was a Scientific Analyst at aMoon, and prior to that, she was a post-doctoral fellow at New York University. Avital is a neuroscientist with over 10 years of experience in designing, leading, and executing cutting-edge research using highly diverse experimental tools. As a post-doctoral fellow, she studied cortical memory in learning and sleep. Her studies of synaptic plasticity in response to motor learning were published in high impact scientific journals including Neuron, Nature Neuroscience, and PNAS.
Avital completed her PhD at the Hebrew University’s Interdisciplinary Center for Neural Computation, researching reinforcement learning processes in the Basal Ganglia. Her PhD work led to 14 papers published in leading scientific journals. Avital holds a B.Sc. in Psychology and Biology (Cum Laude) from Tel-Aviv University.
